Mercury center Brittney Griner will not travel with the team for their two-game road trip to Chicago and Indiana (July 30 - August 1) to prioritize her mental health.
The Mercury fully supports Griner's decision and will collaborate with her to establish a timeline for her return.
As of July 30, no specific return date has been provided, and she will miss at least Tuesday's game against the Fever, and potentially more.
Griner returned to the WNBA this season after missing 2022 due to legal issues in Russia, where she faced cannabis possession charges and spent nearly 10 months in prison
In the current season, Griner played in 20 of the Mercury's 24 games, showcasing strong performance and earning a spot in her ninth career WNBA All-Star Game.
